Medication-Assisted Treatment Program

Medication-assisted treatment is a form of addiction recovery involving therapy and medically supervised pharmaceutical care. Medications used in MAT are approved by the FDA and administered by a California addiction medicine specialist. Medication-assisted treatment is most effective for people struggling with treatment-resistant opioid addiction who desperately want to be sober but continue to relapse. When administered in a professional setting, our addiction treatment can allow people to abstain from powerful opioids like fentanyl and heroin.

Supervised Treatment and Care

A key element of MAT at Rise Above is supervision from our medical team, which includes MD, PA, and CMA professionals at all times. Our rehab team has extensive experience in addiction medicine. We have overseen and managed pharmaceutical treatments such as Vivitrol and Suboxone for addiction recovery alongside therapy and other clinical treatment approaches. We offer medication-assisted treatment in the following rehab programs:

Challenges of MAT

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) has been shown to lower mortality rates associated with opioid overdose, but it is not a cure for addiction. Treating addiction with pharmaceuticals is controversial for obvious reasons, but it can be effective when administered with the right precautions. Medication-assisted treatment is only effective when accompanied by regular therapy, an inclusive sober network, and major life changes. Many things can stand in the way of people’s ability to seek MAT to treat opioid use disorders. Attitudes related to stigma, negative beliefs about MAT, and lack of motivation are a few of the main deterrents. Challenges related to transportation, finding a nearby clinic, hours of operation, financing, and availability of doctors can also stand in the way of a person’s ability to seek treatment. At Rise Above’s rehab and detox center, we believe in providing our clients with the best possible research-supported addiction treatment options available.

Addiction and Medication-Assisted Treatment

The extended use of dangerous drugs fundamentally changes the brain of a chemically dependent person. If you have developed an unhealthy dependence on a substance that harms your health, dreams, goals, family, relationships, and future, our medication-assisted treatment program at Rise Above can help you get your life in order. Research illustrates that offering access to stable housing, medical detox, medication-assisted treatment, a positive support network, and transitional assistance increase success rates in California rehabs.
